Should I Wait For Flower Gardening Or Not?

Posted on 18. Feb, 2010 by admin in Gardening Articles

I live in TN. So, far we have had about 2 weeks of warm weather (60s & 70s) before spring even set in. Last year, our winter ended right around this time also unlike past decade where cold weather ( < 60F) would last through April. So, should I wait a little longer or can I go and start my flower gardening?

You could start your flowers indoors if you are unsure whether or not to plant them. Then wait a couple weeks to plant them outside.

start with hardier varieties of annuals such as Dracena, Fuchsia, geranium, and allysum first. Towards the end of April you can plant the more delicate ones such as lobelia, zinnia, snapdragon, and seeded sweet pea. Up here in chilly British Columbia, Canada, that’s what I do, but a month later than you. Happy gardening!

Wait about one more week, then check your log term forecast.
