I have tried wood ash and lime. I do not want to kill the flowers, but the moss is getting thicker. I have torn it out, but it is spreading into my lawn as well as the the garden.

I live in TN. So, far we have had about 2 weeks of warm weather (60s & 70s) before spring even set in. Last year, our winter ended right around this time also unlike past decade where cold weather ( < 60F) would last through April. So, should I wait a little longer or can I go and start my flower gardening?

I recently purchased some organic compost not realizing that it was inorganic compost that I really wanted. So when I got home I mixed the organic compost I had just purchased with the inorganic compost i had layed out a week before. So my question was, what will happen when these two types of compost are mixed? Is my soil ruined because of this careless mistake or can I still salvage my soil? The reason I started with the inorganic compost was because I live in the Southwestern part of Texas where the soil is clay like and I was advised to use the inorganic type to soften the soil. Any suggestions out there or any similar issues any one has encountered?

I want to put a flower garden in the yard in front of my house, but I’m not sure what I would be able to use. Since that side of the house faces the west, it doesn’t get sunlight until the afternoon. I’ve looked around at a few different green houses to get some ideas, but all I find is plants that require full sun. I would like to get flowers or small shrubs or maybe even some climbing flowers. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

I was reading an article about container gardening and it reads: “Feed monthly with a balanced fertilizer, and deadhead spent flowers regularly to keep them blooming.” Are we just talking about getting rid of the old flowers? Or is there any particular way you have to cut the flowers in order to encourage more blooms? Thanks!
