I recently purchased some organic compost not realizing that it was inorganic compost that I really wanted. So when I got home I mixed the organic compost I had just purchased with the inorganic compost i had layed out a week before. So my question was, what will happen when these two types of compost are mixed? Is my soil ruined because of this careless mistake or can I still salvage my soil? The reason I started with the inorganic compost was because I live in the Southwestern part of Texas where the soil is clay like and I was advised to use the inorganic type to soften the soil. Any suggestions out there or any similar issues any one has encountered?

I’m wondering when I should start planting tulip bulbs, when should I harvest by vegtables and anything else I should do to prepare my garden for fall and winter. This is one of my first years as a gardner so any tips would be appreciated!

I’ve never had a backyard, so I’ve been growing vegetables in separate pots. In a few weeks, I’ll be moving into a house with a big enough yard for me to have a vegetable garden. However, since I’ve never done this, I have no idea how to prepare the area. I plan on making it organic, as well. What should I do to the area this summer to prepare for planting next year?

I am new to this gardening thing and I want to have a vegetable garden so that we have vegetables and fruit from early summer through late fall. I know that each vegetable has it’s own PH requirements. How do I prep the soil for all the things I’m wanting to plant? Is there a fertilizer that I should use that would be good for a wide range of veggies? I live in northern Ohio. When should I start prepping the soil? When should I plant? Should I plant a second time during the season to ensure that I have veggies into the fall? What should I plant? The area I want to plant is roughly 15 X 20 ft.

My dad’s tiller is broken, and I want to surprise him by getting his garden ready for planting before father’s day. Is there any way to do so without a plow or tiller? As you can probably tell, I know nothing about this sort of thing. Thanks in advance!

I’m very new to gardening, and I want to start one in my backyard. The problem is, the soil out there is very dry and I’m sure that nothing could grow in it if I tried now. I’m in zone 7b and I don’t know if I should replace the soil altogether or just add a bunch of fertilizer and compost. Any ideas?

Should I chop up my plants and just add them back to the soil, should I compost them first and then add them to the soil? How should I best prepare my garden for next years garden in Montana?
