I’d like to know if it really works. I can’t believe things can grow in just 6″ of his one-third compost, one-third peat moss, and one-third coarse vermiculite. I will try it, but since I live in Mexico, I might have a problem locating coarse vermiculite. Any suggestions?

I am building a 2X8 foot raised square foot (vegetable) garden. Using plywood and other random wood. Someone suggested I seal it with polyurethane or exterior house paint so that it won’t rot, but won’t that be bad for my vegetables?
Thanks.

Once you figure in the cost of the lumber and all the other materials you would use making a raised bed (soil, amendments, etc) how can this be? Yes, it requires less work, but how is it less expensive?
