Should I wait to buy and move them until spring or should i go ahead and do it now?? I am very anxious to plant some .

I live in a little town/village type place, but I have a fairly big backyard. My dad gardens and I want o make my own garden. My dad grew up on a farm and knows a lot about plants so he could help me.
What are some things I need to start? What do I need to know?
What are the soil conditions and what type of nuisance insects are in that area?
I need some information as to which plants and flowers are good for this type of garden. I would like a nice variety of colour and smells with little maintenance if this is possible?
I very mush like the date palm so i want this in the middle of an almost square garden.
We do not have a tillable garden spot. Too many roots, so we are thinking about some raised beds made from landscape timbers. We just want room for some tomatos,peppers and cucumbers. I have been thinking two’by eight’ by three courses high.Will this do, or have you suggestions?

I will resign from my job next week (in the UK) to start work with my employers main competitor. My existing contract is 3 months notice which I know my company will put me straight on to gardening leave. The problem is my new employer wants me to start as soon as possible and I am also happy to do so but can I be employed by two company’s at once. My current employer takes all my equipment away eg laptop etc so I am unable to do any work for them but I am still bound by the 3 month notice and they will not finish it earlier. Any help would be appreciated – UK laws apply. Thanks

think outside the box remember all the mark brothers and most large outlet stores have there own garden shop — get a job there!!!
