My neighbor says to use railroad ties but those might not fit with our look in the backyard. I was thinking more along the lines of some 2×6′s that are pre-treated to prevent rotting. Will this affect the chemicals that enter the soil? Are they dangerous? Does anyone have any good links to help with the building and prep work for a new veggie garden?
I’m think of making four 4×4 squares for the garden. Any tips would be great.

This is my first vegetable garden and I would like to know when is it a good time to start tilling? Should you till after a good rain and/or wait a day or two? How should the ground be overall before tilling?

We could improve the organic part of soil by putting our waste paper in the soil rather than in a landfill.

I have been waiting on my husband to help me with the gardening, but with his busy work schedule he has other things to do when he gets home besides plant flowers. I do not have the strength to push his tiller or lift monster sized rocks. My question is, how do women garden? I’m especially wanting to know how you do the heavy stuff.

I would like to water my front and backyard at the same time. I have to garden hoses and would to connect them to one spigot.
I tried it with a v-splitter but experienced very low pressure. If I turn one side off than one hose gets enough pressure.
Any suggestions or is this even possible???
If one hose is connected the pressure is fine.
